What this trial studies
This study aims to adapt and implement Volitional Help Sheets (VHS) to promote smoking cessation among young adult smokers aged 20-45 in Indonesia, a country with increasing smoking rates. Participants will complete self-report measures and be randomized into intervention and control groups across three waves of data collection. The main focus is on achieving smoking abstinence, while secondary outcomes include assessing nicotine dependence and the participants' capabilities, opportunities, and motivations related to quitting smoking. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of the VHS in helping smokers quit over a six-month period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are smokers aged 20-45 years living in Indonesia.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-smokers or outside the age range of 20-45 years will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce smoking rates among young adults in Indonesia, improving public health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with Volitional Help Sheets in other contexts, but this specific application in Indonesia is novel.
