What this trial studies

This is a 3-month, longitudinal pilot where participants aged 60 and over will use a healthy lifestyle recommender solution (HLRS) app to measure acceptance and adherence without a control group. The main focus is user-friendliness and time spent using the app as measures of adherence, while feasibility of the overall design for older adults is also examined. Secondary outcomes include changes in dietary habits, physical activity patterns, and selected plasma and urinary biomarkers. The pilot is intended to inform a larger, randomized trial planned for the following year.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 60 or older living in Luxembourg with a BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m² who own a smartphone and can live independently are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People with manifest chronic diseases that prohibit participation, cognitive impairment, those on strict diets, or individuals who do not live in Luxembourg or lack a smartphone are unlikely to benefit from this pilot.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the app could help older adults adopt healthier dietary and activity habits and reduce their risk of progressing to obesity.

How similar studies have performed: Previous digital lifestyle interventions have shown modest success in changing behavior in older adults, but this specific multi-component HLRS approach is being piloted and is not yet proven.
