What this trial studies
This observational study explores the perspectives of healthcare professionals, specifically registered nurses and healthcare assistants, involved in the needling procedures for patients undergoing haemodialysis. It aims to understand the emotional and physical challenges faced by these professionals, as well as the impact of their experiences on patient outcomes. The study focuses on the high levels of job-related stress reported by healthcare workers due to the demands of needling, which is a critical aspect of care for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease. By gathering insights from those directly involved in the process, the study seeks to highlight the importance of staff-patient relationships and the need for effective pain and anxiety management during procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are registered nurses and Band 3 healthcare assistants who perform needling procedures in haemodialysis units.
Not a fit: Patients who do not receive haemodialysis or are not involved in the needling process will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved training and support for healthcare professionals, ultimately enhancing the patient experience during haemodialysis.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies focusing on patient perspectives in haemodialysis, this specific exploration of healthcare professionals' perspectives is relatively novel.
