What this trial studies
The Health Advocate for Liver Transplant (HEAL-Tx) Pilot is an open-label intervention designed to integrate a health advocate into the transplant team for pediatric patients. This program aims to assess the feasibility and acceptability of the health advocate role, which includes coordinating medical care, facilitating financial assistance, and connecting families to community resources. By improving self-management and communication between families and the healthcare system, the study seeks to enhance the overall transplant experience for children and their caregivers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients under 18 years of age who have undergone liver transplantation.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-English or non-Spanish speakers, or those who are wards of the state, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to improved outcomes and experiences for pediatric liver transplant patients and their families.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of integrating health advocates in pediatric liver transplant care is novel, similar roles have shown promise in improving patient outcomes in other healthcare settings.
