What this trial studies

This interventional treatment assesses the effect of guided meditation on anxiety levels in patients undergoing radiation therapy for brain tumors. Participants will listen to a 5-minute audio-recorded mindfulness practice during each radiation session. The study compares the anxiety levels of those receiving the mindfulness intervention to those receiving standard care without any intervention. The goal is to determine if this mindfulness approach can effectively reduce acute anxiety during treatment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a radiologically confirmed brain tumor who are eligible for radiation treatment.

Not a fit: Patients with active suicidal ideation, unstable illnesses, or those who have previously received radiation therapy to the brain may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety for patients undergoing radiation therapy for brain tumors.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of guided meditation during radiation therapy is novel, similar mindfulness interventions have shown promise in reducing anxiety in other medical settings.
