Genetic analysis of familial and pediatric vasculitis

Identification of Susceptibility Loci and Genes for Systemic Vasculitis Risk, by Analyzing Whole Exome Sequencing of Familial and Pediatric Forms of Vasculitis (FAMILYVASC Study)

French Vasculitis Study Group · NCT04006535

What this trial studies

The FAMILYVASC study is a prospective observational study designed to identify genetic factors associated with systemic vasculitis in patients with familial or pediatric forms of the condition. It utilizes whole exome sequencing to analyze DNA obtained from saliva samples. The study aims to uncover susceptibility loci and genes that may contribute to the risk of developing vasculitis. Both affected individuals and healthy relatives will be included to provide a comprehensive genetic landscape.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include children and adults diagnosed with vasculitis as per the Chapel Hill classification.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have vasculitis or are not related to someone with the condition may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and potential new treatments for patients with vasculitis.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing genetic analysis for similar conditions have shown promise, indicating potential for success in this approach.
