What this trial studies
This observational project will enroll adolescents aged 14–19 in Quito to collect information on mental well‑being, lifestyle behaviors, and risk factors using a multi‑component Lifestyle Medicine framework. Participants will complete questionnaires and lifestyle measures to map emotional responses, activity, sleep, and other behaviors linked to mental health. The team aims to identify patterns associated with higher risk of mental disorders and to use those findings to inform comprehensive interventions. The protocol excludes youth on pharmacological treatment or with conditions that contraindicate physical activity and requires parental or guardian consent.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are adolescents aged 14–19 in Quito who are not on medications, do not have conditions that prevent physical activity, and whose parents or guardians provide consent.
Not a fit: Adolescents currently taking pharmacological treatments, requiring special assistance, or lacking parental authorization are excluded and therefore will not participate or benefit directly.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, findings could guide local prevention and support programs to reduce risk of depression and anxiety and improve overall well‑being among Ecuadorian adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: Lifestyle‑based observational work in adolescents has shown promise in identifying risk patterns and informing interventions, but applying a multi‑component Lifestyle Medicine framework specifically in Ecuadorian adolescents is relatively novel.
