What this trial studies

This observational study aims to collect data on the causes and treatment of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) in pediatric patients. It focuses on individuals who were 18 years old or younger at the onset of the disease and have experienced vascular thrombosis. The study will involve patients from UC Davis Medical Center and will utilize laboratory criteria to confirm the diagnosis of APS. By compiling this information, the study seeks to enhance understanding and management of APS in children.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome who experienced symptoms before the age of 18.

Not a fit: Patients who are infants born to mothers with APS or those with congenital thrombophilia may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the diagnosis and treatment strategies for pediatric patients with Antiphospholipid Syndrome.

How similar studies have performed: While this study is observational and focuses on gathering data, similar studies have previously contributed valuable insights into the management of Antiphospholipid Syndrome.
