Gamified metaverse training to teach nursing students pressure ulcer care
The Effect of Gamified Metaverse-Based Training on Nursing Students' Self-Efficacy and Metaverse Perception Regarding Pressure Injury Management: A Randomized Controlled Study

What this trial studies
This interventional program uses a gamified metaverse-based educational application developed in Turkish to teach second-year undergraduate nursing students about pressure ulcer prevention and management. Participants will use interactive metaverse modules and complete questionnaires measuring knowledge, academic self-efficacy, and perceptions of the metaverse for clinical training. The intervention is conducted at Baskent University in Ankara and requires normal hearing, vision, speech, and Turkish language ability. Collected data will compare participants' scores before and after the program to see if the gamified metaverse approach increases self-efficacy and metaverse acceptance for pressure ulcer care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Second-year undergraduate nursing students who speak Turkish, have normal hearing, vision, and speech, and voluntarily consent to participate are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People who are not second-year nursing students, cannot use the metaverse, do not speak Turkish, withdraw during the study, or submit incomplete surveys are unlikely to gain benefit from the intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could boost nursing students' confidence and skills in preventing and managing pressure ulcers, which may improve patient care.
How similar studies have performed: Previous virtual reality and gamified nursing education studies have shown improvements in knowledge and self-efficacy, though gamified metaverse-specific interventions remain relatively new.
