Functional exercise program for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy
Effects of Functional Exercise Program With Strength Load and Resistance in Gross Motor Function, Quality of Life and Participation in Children and Adolescents With Cerebral Palsy Levels III-IV GMFCS

What this trial studies
This research evaluates the benefits of a functional exercise program that incorporates strength and resistance training for adolescents aged 10 to 18 years with cerebral palsy classified at levels III and IV of the GMFCS scale. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which will engage in functional exercises with progressive load, or a control group performing the same exercises without load. The study will consist of 36 sessions over 18 weeks, with assessments conducted before, after, and six months post-intervention to measure changes in functional ability, quality of life, and daily participation. The goal is to provide evidence for rehabilitation strategies that enhance autonomy and social inclusion for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 10 to 18 years diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy at levels III or IV of the GMFCS scale.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone recent surgeries or specific strength training protocols may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve functional abilities and quality of life for adolescents with cerebral palsy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar functional exercise approaches in improving physical abilities in children with cerebral palsy.
