Fully digital workflow for immediate implants with same-day restoration

The Use of a Fully Digital Workflow in Immediate Implants With Immediate Restoration

Observational Proed, Torino, Italy · NCT07294820

This project tests whether a fully digital workflow can give adults who need a single immediate implant with a same-day temporary crown the same implant survival, bone stability, and patient satisfaction as the standard analog approach.

What this trial studies

This is a prospective, single-arm observational study using Straumann BLX (BLC) implants and a full-digital workflow for immediate implant placement with immediate provisionalization. Pre-surgical planning combines cone-beam CT and intraoral scans to plan implant position and to produce a computer-guided surgical stent and a laboratory-prepared provisional crown. On the day of extraction, implants are placed using the guided approach and a temporary crown is delivered immediately; outcomes tracked include implant success and survival, marginal bone level changes, patient satisfaction by VAS, and procedure duration. The study builds on previously published case series of fully tapered BLX implants in the esthetic zone and records clinical and radiological measures over follow-up.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults in good general health who need extraction and single-tooth replacement in the relevant tooth positions (immediate placement with immediate loading) and are willing to receive a same-day provisional crown are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic health problems, inadequate bone at the extraction site, need for multiple adjacent implants, or who do not fit the single-tooth immediate placement criteria are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could let patients receive accurate, minimally invasive immediate implants with same-day temporaries and potentially improved aesthetics and shorter appointment times.

How similar studies have performed: Previous prospective case series using fully tapered BLX implants and digital planning in the esthetic zone have reported promising clinical and radiological results.
