Fat grafting plus latissimus dorsi muscle flap for delayed breast reconstruction
The Outcomes of Fat Grafting Combined With Latissimus Dorsi Muscle Flap for Delayed Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomy
This will try adding fat grafting to a latissimus dorsi muscle flap to rebuild breasts in women who previously had a mastectomy.

What this trial studies
The protocol combines a latissimus dorsi muscle flap with autologous fat grafting to perform delayed breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Eligible women undergo flap reconstruction with simultaneous fat harvest and transfer at Sohag University Hospital. Surgical outcomes such as contour, volume retention, complications, and donor-site morbidity will be recorded during follow-up. The goal is to determine whether the combined technique improves aesthetic results and reduces the need for additional procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Women indicated for skin-sparing mastectomy who seek delayed autologous breast reconstruction and do not have distant metastatic disease are the intended candidates.
Not a fit: Women with stage IV (metastatic) breast cancer or those who are medically unfit for surgery are unlikely to receive benefit from this procedure.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the approach could provide a more natural breast shape and reduce the need for additional touch-up surgeries.
How similar studies have performed: Similar approaches combining latissimus dorsi flaps with autologous fat grafting have been reported to improve contour and patient satisfaction, though randomized trials are limited.
