Exploring the role of proteins in heart and kidney health for patients with acute coronary syndrome
Latent TGF-β-binding Proteins Affect the Fibrotic Process in Renal Impairment and Cardiac Dysfunction

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the effects of latent TGF-β-binding proteins, particularly LTBP4, on renal and cardiac outcomes in patients suspected of having acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Blood samples will be collected from participants upon hospital arrival, followed by additional samples taken two weeks to one month later and again one year after the initial event. The study will also monitor any subsequent ACS events during the follow-up period to assess the impact of these proteins on overall health outcomes, including all-cause mortality.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing cardiogenic shock, pregnancy, or end-stage renal disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of cardiac and renal complications in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on LTBP4 in this context may be novel, similar studies exploring biomarkers in acute coronary syndrome have shown promising results.
