Exploring the link between gut bacteria fragments and colorectal cancer
A Cross-sectional Study on the Association of Peptidoglycan Fragments Derived From Gut Microbiota With Colorectal Cancer

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the relationship between peptidoglycan fragments derived from gut microbiota and the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). Participants will provide biological specimens, including blood, feces, and colon tissue obtained during surgery, to determine if these fragments can serve as potential screening or diagnostic indicators for CRC. The study will involve individuals who have undergone total colonoscopy and consented to participate, allowing researchers to analyze the association between gut microbiota and cancer progression.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who have undergone total colonoscopy and are willing to provide biological samples.
Not a fit: Patients with previous malignant tumors other than colorectal cancer or those who have recently received specific drug treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to new diagnostic tools for early detection of colorectal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While the association between gut microbiota and colorectal cancer is a growing area of interest, this specific approach focusing on peptidoglycan fragments is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
