Exploring the link between FODMAPs and Graft Versus Host Disease
Relationship Between the Utilization and Degradation Rate of "FODMAPs" by Intestinal Flora and "GVHD"
The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University · NCT04660487
This study is trying to see if certain foods called FODMAPs affect the severity of Graft Versus Host Disease in patients who have had a bone marrow transplant.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the relationship between FODMAPs and Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) in patients who have undergone bone marrow transplantation. It involves collecting fecal samples from successfully transplanted patients and analyzing the degradation rate of FODMAPs after 24 hours of culture. The study will observe how this degradation rate correlates with the timing and severity of GVHD. By understanding this relationship, the study seeks to provide insights into dietary impacts on GVHD outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with AML, ALL, MDS, or MM who have successfully undergone bone marrow transplantation.
Not a fit: Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or those outside the age range of 10 to 60 years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to dietary recommendations that improve the management of GVHD in bone marrow transplant patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between diet and GVHD is an emerging area of interest, this specific approach to studying FODMAPs in relation to GVHD is novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
