What this trial studies

This pilot study aims to assess the feasibility of conducting a cross-sectional analysis of adiposity and its associated cardiometabolic and neurocognitive risk factors among various ethnic groups at King's College Hospital. Participants will undergo a single visit where their anthropometric measurements, liver fat levels, and cardiometabolic profiles will be evaluated. Additionally, they will complete questionnaires regarding their lifestyle, socio-economic status, and cognitive health. The study seeks to understand how these factors vary by ethnicity and to test the feasibility of cognitive assessments in diverse populations.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men and women aged 18 years and older with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or higher.

Not a fit: Patients with severe obesity (BMI > 50 kg/m2), active chronic hepatic diseases, or those currently using specific weight-loss medications may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into tailored health interventions for obesity and related conditions across different ethnic groups.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is exploratory, similar studies have shown promise in understanding the relationship between obesity and health outcomes across diverse populations.
