What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of pulsed electromagnetic therapy in conjunction with elliptical exercise on elderly patients suffering from peripheral arterial disease. A total of 40 participants will be divided into two groups: one group will engage in regular elliptical exercise, while the other will receive electromagnetic therapy alongside the exercise regimen. The exercise will be conducted three times a week for eight weeks, aiming to enhance the overall benefits of physical activity for these patients. The study seeks to determine if the addition of electromagnetic treatment can improve pain and hemodynamic responses in this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly patients diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease who are compliant with their medication regimen.

Not a fit: Patients with cardiac, respiratory, or renal conditions may not benefit from this study due to the exclusion criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life and mobility for patients with peripheral arterial disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the combination of exercise and electromagnetic therapy is a novel approach, similar studies have shown promising results in enhancing physical rehabilitation outcomes.
