What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the impact of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients diagnosed with locally advanced thyroid cancer. Participants will complete quality of life questionnaires before surgery and at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after starting TKI treatment. The study aims to determine whether these medications influence the overall well-being of patients who may not be eligible for radical surgery or are at risk of recurrence. By assessing HRQOL changes, the study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness of TKIs beyond traditional clinical outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-70 with a diagnosis of locally advanced thyroid cancer who are receiving TKI drugs.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of other malignant diseases or recent cardiovascular events may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how TKIs affect the quality of life for patients with advanced thyroid cancer.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on TKIs in thyroid cancer exist, the specific focus on HRQOL in this context is relatively novel.
