What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the impact of psychiatric disorders and psychotropic medications on the sexual health of adolescents and young adults. It involves a mixed-methods approach, beginning with a quantitative survey of patients in psychiatric care, followed by qualitative interviews with young people and caregivers. Based on the findings, tailored training interventions for psychiatric care teams will be developed and implemented. The study will then reassess the situation to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions in improving discussions around sexual health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are young individuals aged 15 and older who are hospitalized for psychiatric care and are either receiving or not receiving psychotropic treatment.

Not a fit: Patients under 15 years old or those requiring emergency psychiatric care may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding and management of sexual health issues among young people with psychiatric disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on similar studies, the approach of integrating sexual health discussions into psychiatric care is gaining attention and could provide valuable insights.
