Exploring long-term viral suppression in people living with HIV
Exploring, Predicting, and Intervening on Long-term Viral Suppression Electronically
NA · University of California, Los Angeles · NCT06370780

What this trial studies
This study aims to understand and improve long-term viral suppression among people living with HIV (PLWH) who are not optimally engaged in care. Utilizing the REMAIN App, researchers will follow a diverse cohort of PLWH for up to 48 months, focusing on those at high risk for or currently experiencing viral non-suppression. The study will collect data through online surveys, app-based check-ins, and remote biomarkers to evaluate care engagement and viral load patterns. By addressing syndemic factors such as substance use, mental health, and barriers to care, the study seeks to enhance the effectiveness of HIV treatment strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals over 18 years old living with HIV who are not currently virally suppressed or engaged in care, and who may have active substance use or mental health disorders.
Not a fit: Patients who are virally suppressed and not at risk of becoming unsuppressed in the near future will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for achieving and maintaining viral suppression in underserved populations living with HIV.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using digital platforms for health interventions, indicating potential for this approach to be effective.
