What this trial studies

This project investigates the relationship between coffee consumption and energy expenditure, as well as how the body metabolizes caffeine. Healthy participants will be recruited and required to abstain from stimulant drinks for 24 hours prior to the experiment. During the study, various physiological parameters such as total energy expenditure, heart rate, and cognitive function will be monitored. Blood and urine samples will be analyzed to measure caffeine levels and its metabolites using advanced chromatography techniques.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy adults who regularly consume coffee.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or other specified health issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how coffee consumption can enhance energy expenditure, potentially aiding in obesity prevention and treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on caffeine and metabolism, this specific investigation into coffee's effects on energy expenditure is relatively novel.
