What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the relationship between central sensitization and neuropathic pain in patients diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation. It aims to understand how central sensitization influences the distribution and characteristics of pain experienced by these patients. Various assessments, including the Central Sensitization Inventory and pain scales, will be utilized to gather data on pain responses. The study is conducted at Marmara University School of Medicine, focusing on patients who present with lumbar disc herniation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation who are willing to participate.
Not a fit: Patients with active systemic inflammatory diseases, infections, malignancies, or other conditions causing neuropathic pain in the lower extremities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of neuropathic pain in patients with lumbar disc herniation.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown a relationship between central sensitization and neuropathic pain, suggesting that this approach is grounded in established findings.
