What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate emotional regulation in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder through qualitative methods, specifically using semi-structured interviews. The focus is on understanding patients' perspectives regarding their emotional regulation strategies, which may be adaptive or maladaptive. By examining these personal narratives, the study seeks to highlight the emotional regulation difficulties that are often overlooked in quantitative research. The findings could provide insights into the contextual factors influencing emotional regulation in psychosis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 60 with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who can communicate in French.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing significant psychological instability or with neurological comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of emotional regulation in schizophrenia, potentially leading to improved therapeutic approaches.
How similar studies have performed: While qualitative studies on emotional regulation in psychosis are less common, existing literature suggests that exploring patient perspectives can yield valuable insights, indicating potential for success.
