Exploring coronary microvascular dysfunction in angina patients without significant artery blockages

Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction in Angina Patients With Non-obstructive Coronary Artery Disease

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the incidence and impact of coronary microvascular dysfunction in patients experiencing stable anginal symptoms who are indicated for invasive coronary angiography but do not have significant epicardial coronary artery disease. The study will assess patients with a fractional flow reserve greater than 0.80, focusing on understanding how microvascular dysfunction affects their prognosis. By analyzing these patients, the study seeks to provide insights into a condition that is often overlooked in traditional assessments of coronary artery health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with stable anginal symptoms and no significant epicardial coronary artery disease.

Not a fit: Patients with acute myocardial infarction, significant valvular heart disease, or advanced chronic kidney disease may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of angina in patients with non-obstructive coronary artery disease.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is not widely tested, similar studies have begun to explore coronary microvascular dysfunction, indicating potential for valuable insights.
