What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the neurocognitive and emotional-behavioral functioning of adolescents diagnosed with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE). Participants, aged 11 to 18, along with their caregivers, will complete standardized questionnaires to evaluate their quality of life and identify factors affecting their well-being. The study will also collect clinical and anamnesic information to understand the relationship between these variables and the emotional and executive functioning of the subjects. By focusing on psychological factors, the research seeks to enhance the overall health-related quality of life for these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 11 to 18 years who have been diagnosed with idiopathic generalized epilepsy.

Not a fit: Patients with structural or cryptogenic epilepsy, intellectual disabilities, or those outside the age range of 11 to 18 years may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of emotional and cognitive challenges faced by adolescents with IGE.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have indicated that addressing psychological factors in epilepsy can significantly improve patients' quality of life, suggesting this approach has potential for success.
