What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the emotional experiences of caregivers, including doctors and nurses, who provide palliative care to extremely premature newborns in the delivery room. It focuses on caregivers' feelings within two months following the care of these infants, who are not eligible for resuscitation. The study will employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the emotional impact on caregivers involved in such sensitive situations. The research is conducted at the Universitary Hospital of Reims in France, where caregivers will be asked to share their experiences and feelings regarding their involvement in palliative care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are caregivers working at the Universitary Hospital of Reims who have provided care to extremely preterm newborns with a palliative approach.
Not a fit: Patients who may not receive benefit from this study include caregivers who have not been involved in the care of extremely preterm newborns or those who do not consent to participate.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of caregiver emotions, leading to improved support systems for healthcare professionals in challenging palliative care situations.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on caregiver feelings in this context, related studies on perinatal palliative care have highlighted the emotional challenges faced by caregivers, suggesting that this area is underexplored.
