What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify and evaluate biomarkers for dementia by stratifying patients based on age and type of dementia. It involves comprehensive data collection, including clinical history, neuropsychological assessments, and multi-modal neuroimaging techniques. The study also focuses on analyzing various biological samples such as serum, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and urine to discover new fluid biomarkers and genetic markers associated with dementia. Patients will be followed up every six months, and autopsy data will be used to validate the findings.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with neurodegenerative dementia who have a fixed caregiver and can participate in regular follow-ups.

Not a fit: Patients who are not diagnosed with dementia, including those with mild cognitive impairment, or those with severe systemic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and early diagnoses of different types of dementia, improving patient management and treatment outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in identifying biomarkers for dementia, but this specific age-stratified approach is relatively novel.
