What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a tailored exercise program for individuals with Multiple Myeloma undergoing chemotherapy prior to a stem cell transplant. Participants will be recruited to engage in a 10-week exercise intervention, comparing outcomes with those receiving standard physical activity counseling. The study will also assess the acceptability of a mobile app designed to support healthy living during treatment. The approach includes both in-person and virtual formats to accommodate different needs.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma who are eligible for a stem cell transplant and currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Not a fit: Patients whose disease status or comorbidities prevent them from participating in exercise or those unable to commit to the program may not benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could help improve physical fitness, muscle mass, strength, and quality of life for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific intervention's feasibility and effectiveness in this patient population is novel.
