What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effects of a multi-component exercise intervention, known as Vivifrail, on elderly patients hospitalized due to ischemic stroke. The focus is on reducing debilitation and improving functional and cognitive outcomes in patients who have experienced venous hemolysis. By encouraging physical activity during hospitalization, the study aims to counteract the negative effects of prolonged bed rest, such as muscle wasting and cognitive decline. The intervention targets patients over 65 years of age who are capable of some physical activity and are willing to participate.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are elderly patients over 65 years old, hospitalized with ischemic stroke, and able to engage in physical activity.

Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairment, dementia, or other unstable medical conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance recovery and quality of life for elderly patients after an ischemic stroke.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions in similar populations, suggesting a promising approach.
