Examining urinary proteins to improve diagnosis of follicular thyroid cancer
Correlation Between Various Urinary Exosomal Protein Biomarkers and Pathological Manifestation in Thyroid Follicular Neoplasm: Early and Pre-operative Diagnosis of Follicular Thyroid Cancer

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the correlation between various urinary exosomal protein biomarkers and the pathological manifestations of thyroid follicular neoplasms. The research aims to enhance early and pre-operative diagnosis of follicular thyroid cancer, which is often challenging due to limitations in cytology. By analyzing urinary exosomal proteins, the study seeks to identify new biomarkers that could complement existing diagnostic methods, particularly serum thyroglobulin. The study is conducted at National Taiwan University Hospital, focusing on patients diagnosed with nodular goiter or thyroid cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with nodular goiter or thyroid cancer, specifically those awaiting surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with unclearly diagnosed thyroid conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier and more accurate diagnoses of follicular thyroid cancer, improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using urinary exosomal proteins is relatively novel, previous studies have shown promise in identifying biomarkers for thyroid cancer.
