What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the differences in toilet training success, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and bowel dysfunction between children diagnosed with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and typically developing children. It employs a cross-sectional case-control design, utilizing questionnaires to assess symptoms and challenges related to toilet training and bowel function. The study aims to identify significant prevalence rates of these issues in the DCD population compared to their typically developing peers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children diagnosed with Developmental Coordination Disorder and typically developing children matched by grade and gender.
Not a fit: Patients with other developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or intellectual disabilities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management strategies for toilet training and bowel dysfunction in children with DCD.
How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach may be novel, similar studies have explored related issues in developmental disorders, indicating potential for valuable insights.
