Examining STIM1 Protein Levels in Autoimmune Disease Patients

Study of STIM1 Membrane Expression During Autoimmune Diseases

Observational University Hospital, Brest · NCT04978948

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the expression of STIM1 in the plasma membrane of lymphocytes from patients diagnosed with various autoimmune diseases. By identifying the levels of STIM1, researchers hope to uncover new pathologies that exhibit an over-expression of this protein. The findings could pave the way for future research and development of anti-STIM1 antibodies targeted at these autoimmune conditions. The study will involve patients from multiple hospital locations in Brittany and Martinique.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with autoimmune diseases.

Not a fit: Patients who have received rituximab treatment in the past 12 months will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to new therapeutic options for patients with autoimmune diseases through the development of targeted anti-STIM1 treatments.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel in the context of STIM1 expression in autoimmune diseases, similar studies targeting specific proteins have shown promise in other conditions.
