What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the levels of physical activity and sleep quality in children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Participants will be recruited from pediatric IBD clinics and will complete questionnaires regarding their activity levels, disease activity, and quality of life. They will also wear wrist-based accelerometers for a week to objectively measure their physical activity. Additionally, participants will maintain a physical activity diary, food diary, and stool chart to provide comprehensive data for analysis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease.
Not a fit: Patients who are not able to understand or cooperate with the study requirements may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how physical activity impacts the quality of life in pediatric patients with IBD.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on physical activity in adults with IBD, this specific focus on pediatric patients is relatively novel and underexplored.
