What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the agreement between self-reported and informant-reported DSM-5 personality disorder traits in adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will complete the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Screening Personality Questionnaire (SCID-5-SPQ) to assess their personality traits. The study aims to enhance the reliability of self-report measures, which are crucial for both research and clinical assessments in this population. By comparing self-reports with those of informants, the study seeks to provide insights into the accuracy of self-perception among adults with ASD.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and no intellectual disability.
Not a fit: Patients with current substance abuse, psychotic disorders, or those who do not meet the criteria for ASD may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the accuracy of personality assessments in adults with autism, leading to better tailored clinical services.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on this topic, studies examining self-report versus informant-report in other populations have shown varying degrees of success, indicating the potential for valuable insights in this area.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria Inclusion criteria for ASD participants: (1) primary diagnosis of ASD according to the DSM-5-TR, (2) age 18+ years, (3) no intellectual disability, and (4) at least having completed a primary and secondary education. Exclusion criteria Exclusion criteria for ASD participants: (1) no ASD diagnosis, (2) current substance abuse, (3) psychotic disorders, (4) schizophrenia, (5) eating disorder, (6), mental retardation (IQ\<80), (7) suicidal ideations and (8) age \<18 years.
