What this trial studies
This study investigates the presence of harmful bacteria associated with periodontal diseases in a population from Catalonia suffering from periodontitis. It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a video intervention designed to improve oral hygiene practices among participants. By assessing the impact of this educational measure, the study seeks to enhance patient outcomes related to periodontal health. Participants must be over 18 years old and have specific grades of periodontal disease to qualify.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with grade III or IV periodontal disease.
Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing antibiotic treatment or those with braces may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved oral hygiene practices and better management of periodontal diseases.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored the impact of educational interventions on oral health, this specific approach focusing on periodontal pathogens is relatively novel.
