What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the relationship between pain, central sensitization, kinesiophobia, and stress levels in individuals suffering from temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). It aims to include ninety patients aged 18-65 who have experienced TMD-related complaints for at least three months, diagnosed through clinical and radiological evaluations. The study will analyze psychological factors such as pain catastrophizing and anxiety that may contribute to the severity of TMD symptoms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18-65 with TMD-related complaints lasting at least three months.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive problems, systemic joint or muscle diseases, serious systemic diseases, neurological disorders, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of pain and psychological factors in patients with temporomandibular dysfunction.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationships being studied may be novel, previous research has indicated that psychological factors play a significant role in TMD, suggesting potential for meaningful insights.
