What this trial studies
This observational study aims to enhance understanding of the oral health needs of children enrolled at Children's Advocacy Centers (CAC) by analyzing retrospective dental records. It seeks to identify oral indicators of child maltreatment and assess the necessity for trauma-sensitive dental treatment and follow-up care. The study will also evaluate the effectiveness of interdisciplinary collaboration between CAC, Child Welfare Services, and Public Dental Health Services. By utilizing existing dental records, the study aims to gather valuable insights without imposing additional burdens on the children and their families.

Not a fit: Children with developmental disorders affecting oral health or those with mental retardation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the detection and treatment of oral health issues in children who are victims of maltreatment.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative in its focus on oral health indicators for child maltreatment, similar studies have shown success in interdisciplinary collaboration for child welfare.
