What this trial studies

This study investigates the function and morphological characteristics of the meibomian gland in patients suffering from renal anemia who exhibit dry eye symptoms. It involves collecting medical histories and conducting dry eye examinations on patients treated with either Roxadustat or erythropoietin. The study aims to analyze various parameters such as lacrimal river height, tear film rupture time, and meibomian gland grade to understand the impact of renal anemia on ocular health. Statistical analysis will be performed to evaluate the findings and draw conclusions about the relationship between renal anemia and meibomian gland dysfunction.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with renal anemia who have been using Roxadustat or erythropoietin for treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who wear contact lenses, have a history of eye surgeries, or have systemic health conditions affecting ocular health may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of dry eye symptoms in patients with renal anemia.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction, this specific focus on renal anemia is relatively novel and untested.
