What this trial studies
This study evaluates the hysteroscopic findings in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and unexplained infertility, aiming to correlate these findings with transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) results and histopathological diagnoses. It involves a cross-sectional design with two groups: 100 women with PCOS and 50 with unexplained infertility, all of whom are in the reproductive age group. The goal is to determine if hysteroscopic examination can provide insights into endometrial conditions that may negate the need for endometrial curettage in certain patients. The study is conducted at the Woman's Health University Hospital in Assiut, Egypt.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18-40 with primary or secondary infertility and no contraindications for hysteroscopy.
Not a fit: Patients who are not experiencing infertility or have contraindications for hysteroscopy will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help reduce unnecessary endometrial procedures in women with PCOS and unexplained infertility.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored endometrial conditions in PCOS, this specific approach of correlating hysteroscopic findings with TVS and histopathology is relatively novel.
