Examining how tissue attachment affects periodontal treatment outcomes
"Impact of Supracrestal Tissue Attachment Dimension on the Outcome of Scaling and Root Planing and Open Flap Debridement Procedure in Patients With Stage II and Stage III Periodontitis in Thin Versus Thick Periodontal Phenotype: A Comparative Interventional Study"
This study tests how the size of tissue attachment affects the success of common gum treatments for people with moderate to severe gum disease.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of supracrestal tissue attachment (SCTA) dimensions on the effectiveness of scaling and root planing and open flap debridement procedures in patients with stage II and III periodontitis. It aims to assess how variations in SCTA dimensions influence treatment outcomes and to compare these effects between different periodontal phenotypes. The research will involve measuring SCTA dimensions and evaluating clinical outcomes post-treatment to determine the relationship between tissue attachment and periodontal health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with generalized stage II or stage III periodontitis.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases, malaligned teeth, or those who have received periodontal therapy within the past year may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies for periodontitis, enhancing patient outcomes and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific influence of SCTA dimensions on periodontal treatment outcomes has not been previously investigated, similar studies on periodontal interventions have shown promising results.
