Examining heart health in people with Metabolic Syndrome using MRI
Metabolic Risk Factors and Myocardial Oxygenation Reserve (META-MORE)
This study looks at how heart health differs between healthy people and those with Metabolic Syndrome by using MRI to see how their hearts respond to breathing changes.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to compare myocardial oxygenation between healthy individuals and those diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome using oxygenation-sensitive cardiac MRI. Participants will undergo MRI imaging to assess how various metabolic risk factors and health metrics influence heart health. The study will focus on identifying differences in heart function during vasoactive breathing maneuvers. By analyzing these differences, researchers hope to gain insights into the impact of metabolic conditions on cardiac health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18-80 diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome based on specific health criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with significant medical problems affecting cardiovascular or respiratory systems, or those with MRI contraindications, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how metabolic syndrome affects heart health, potentially leading to improved management strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on myocardial oxygenation and metabolic syndrome exist, this specific approach using OS-CMR is relatively novel.
