What this trial studies
This observational study aims to optimize health-related quality of life for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by investigating the impact of social determinants of health and medication use. It focuses on understanding disparities in treatment outcomes among Hispanic and Non-Hispanic Black IBD patients compared to Non-Hispanic White patients. The study will utilize surveys to gather data on medication adherence and access to treatment, which may influence disease control and quality of life. By identifying these factors, the study seeks to inform better care strategies for affected populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with a clinical diagnosis of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis.
Not a fit: Patients who self-identify as races or ethnicities other than Hispanic, Non-Hispanic Black, or Non-Hispanic White may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies and health outcomes for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have indicated disparities in treatment outcomes based on social determinants of health, suggesting that this approach is relevant and potentially impactful.
