Examining gum changes after removing an implant crown
Peri-implant Mucosal Changes Over Time Following Implant Provisional Removal in the Esthetic Zone
This study is testing how the gums change after taking off an implant crown to see how long it takes for those changes to happen, which is important for making new crowns look good.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the temporary volumetric changes in the gums surrounding an implant crown following its removal. It aims to determine the time required to observe significant changes in the gum tissue, which is crucial for creating aesthetically pleasing final crowns. Participants will have their implant area scanned immediately after crown removal and at intervals of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 minutes. The study will also involve a final scan when a new crown is made to assess any changes in the gum shape over time.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with a maxillary anterior immediate implant and provisional crown in place for at least 4 months, alongside a natural adjacent tooth.
Not a fit: Patients with active gum disease or those without adjacent teeth to the implant crown may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the process of creating dental crowns by providing insights into how gum tissue responds after crown removal.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies on gum tissue response exist, this specific approach focusing on immediate volumetric changes post-crown removal is relatively novel.
