Examining cardiovascular and lymphatic systems in women with Turner Syndrome
Lymphedema, Low-grade Inflammation and the Vasculature in Turner Syndrome
This study is testing how the heart and lymphatic systems work in women with Turner Syndrome to see if there are any problems that could lead to health issues.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems in women diagnosed with Turner Syndrome (TS) by conducting a fifth study visit for participants who have previously been examined over a 19-year period. The study will include healthy age-matched females as controls in a 2:1 ratio. Researchers will investigate potential defects and dysfunctions in these systems to understand the complications associated with TS, including lymphedema and cardiovascular diseases. The study will also explore the relationship between low-grade inflammation and vascular structure alterations in TS patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult women with a karyotype verified diagnosis of Turner Syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have contraindications for MRI will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of life-threatening complications associated with Turner Syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on Turner Syndrome, this specific approach examining the interplay between lymphatic and cardiovascular systems in this population is relatively novel.
