Examining brain function in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
fMRI Study of Early Brain Injury in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates early brain injury in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using functional MRI (fMRI). It compares brain function changes among three groups: SLE patients with neuropsychiatric symptoms, SLE patients without such symptoms, and healthy controls. The study aims to identify specific brain regions affected by SLE and correlate these findings with clinical data and neurocognitive assessments. By doing so, it seeks to provide insights for early diagnosis and intervention in neuropsychiatric lupus.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include right-handed individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus who are age and gender matched and can cooperate with MRI and neuropsychiatric examinations.
Not a fit: Patients with serious diseases of other systems, central nervous system diseases, or a history of neuropsychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with neuropsychiatric symptoms of SLE.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using fMRI to assess brain function in autoimmune diseases, suggesting this approach may yield valuable insights.
