What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the relationship between blood pressure variability and frailty in individuals aged 75 and older diagnosed with hypertension. It will utilize ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to identify hypotensive episodes and assess their association with adverse health outcomes such as hospitalization and cardiovascular events. Additionally, the study will explore how home blood pressure variability correlates with frailty and the prevalence of hypotensive phenotypes among frail hypertensive patients. The study is conducted at a single center and involves diagnostic tests and questionnaires.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 75 years and older with a diagnosis of hypertension.

Not a fit: Patients with a life expectancy of less than 6 months or those who refuse participation may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding of blood pressure management in frail older adults, potentially leading to better health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on blood pressure variability, this specific focus on frailty in older adults is relatively novel.
