What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of Complementary Spiritist Therapy (ECT) on patients experiencing anxiety, depression, pain, stress, and overall well-being. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group receiving ECT, which includes prayer, spiritual education, spiritist 'passe', and fluid therapy, or a control group that will not receive any intervention. The interventions aim to promote healing through spiritual practices and intentions. The study will take place at UFTM Hospital de Clínicas, involving hospitalized patients and hospital employees.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults hospitalized with conditions related to anxiety, depression, pain, or stress who can understand the study questionnaires.
Not a fit: Patients who are expected to be discharged in less than 4 days or have a lowered level of consciousness may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could provide a novel approach to improving mental health and well-being in patients suffering from anxiety and depression.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using spiritual therapies is less common, similar studies have shown potential benefits in complementary therapies for mental health, though this specific method remains novel.
