What this trial studies

This protocol aims to evaluate patients with diagnosed or suspected inflammatory and infectious diseases that are not covered by existing protocols. Patients will be assessed for their conditions, and if a diagnosis is made, they may be referred to ongoing NIH protocols for further treatment. If no relevant protocol exists, participants will receive standard care either through external providers or within this protocol. The study also aims to collect clinical data and samples to enhance understanding of these diseases and support future research.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 3 years and older with known or suspected exposure to infection or symptoms of an infectious or inflammatory disease.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have conditions that may pose undue risk or make them unsuitable for participation will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the diagnosis and management of inflammatory and infectious diseases, leading to better patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach has been established since 1978, it serves as a foundational protocol for evaluating such diseases, indicating a long-standing commitment to this area of research.
