What this trial studies
This study aims to determine the most effective version of the THRIVE app, which is designed to help individuals who have recently experienced sexual assault by reducing alcohol misuse and posttraumatic stress symptoms. Participants will be randomly assigned to different versions of the app to compare their effectiveness. The app includes features such as activity scheduling, cognitive restructuring, and coaching calls. It is currently only available to participants in this study, making it a unique intervention for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are undergraduate or graduate students who have experienced a sexual assault within the past 12 weeks and have reported heavy drinking episodes.
Not a fit: Patients who have not experienced a recent sexual assault or do not meet the drinking criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve mental health outcomes and reduce alcohol misuse among survivors of sexual assault.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile health interventions for similar issues, but this specific approach with the THRIVE app is novel.
