Evaluating the Prognostic Value of Stress Echocardiography
The Prognostic Value of Positive Stress Echocardiography and Its Relationship with Invasive Coronary Angiography: the AMPHIPOLIS Study
This study is testing if positive stress echocardiography results can help predict serious heart problems in people with coronary artery disease or reduced blood flow to the heart.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the prognostic value of positive stress echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease or myocardial ischemia. It will enroll 390 patients from 25 echocardiography labs in Greece and Cyprus, who will undergo invasive coronary angiography within six weeks of their positive stress echo. The study will monitor participants for major adverse cardiovascular events and cardiovascular death over a follow-up period of at least 12 months. Additionally, it will explore the relationship between stress echo findings and coronary angiography results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults with recent positive stress echocardiography indicating myocardial ischemia.
Not a fit: Patients with heart failure requiring viability studies, symptomatic valvular disease, or recent acute coronary syndrome may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the prognostic assessment and management of patients with coronary artery disease.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using stress echocardiography for prognostic evaluation, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
